Wednesday 3rd June 2020 - Year 1 Home Learning

Good morning children,

I hope your week is going well and you are enjoying the activites we are setting for you.

Here are the learning tasks for you to go through today.

Click on the link  below to access today’s maths activity.

Watch the video on today' theme:  Summer Week 6:  Lesson 3 on Capacity and Volume

Then click on BBC Bitesize next to the video and click on your year group tab to access your work for today.

Remember you can go back to the video at any point to write something down or to complete an answer in your workbook.

This week we have started working on a new book called Sayeeda the Pirate Princess by Alison Cooper

I hope you enjoyed reading the story.  Click on the link below to go to the booklet and then choose a new activity to work on.

You will need some paper and a pencil.  If you have a printer you can print out some of the worksheets.

If you require a new book to write on we can provide one from school if parents call to make and appointment for when to collect.

Your reading task this week is to listen to Audiobooks and discuss them with  someone else in your family.

This week's book is Kid normal  Listen to a chapter each day.   Then retell the story so far to someone else.

For this activity today, we are going to be learning all about the wind. Wind is when air moves. We cannot see wind but we can see it moving objects around us. We will then be looking at types of wind and conducting a wind logging experiment.

Then click on start to go through your activities.

This week we are embarking on a new and exciting project at St John the Divine.

This is to put together an online choir performance of the children from different year groups.

Mr Postles has put a new Blog on the Music page about this.  You can access the Music Blog from the same place you access this page every day of use this link below to go straight there:

In order to make this happen, all you need to do is to record the child singing along to one (or all three!) of the songs chosen for this project. There are a few things we need to get right, so please refer to the information on the blog!

To see Mr Postles explain the information in a video, please follow this link:

I hope you all enjoy the work I set for you today.

Remember that you can always email me any questions at showing ‘Year 1’ in the title.

Have a good day!
