Good morning Year One,

Below you will find the activities for your home learning today.

Then click on BBC Bitesize next to the video and click on your year group tab to access your work for today.

Please remember you can rewatch the video as many times as you need to and you can go back to it when you are answering the questions.

Today, we are going to practise how to be able to identify words that have been contracted (made shorter) and use contracted words in your writing.

This lesson includes:

a video about contractions

three activities to do at home

Click on the link below to go to the BBC Bitesize Website and start your lesson.

You might need some paper and a pencil for these activities.

If you require a new book to write on we can provide one from school if parents call to make an appointment for when to collect.

using contractions

Your reading task this week is to continue to listen to Audiobooks and discuss them with someone else in your family.

This week we are continuing to listen to Kid Normal. There are still quite a few chapters left so you might want to listen to two chapters today.

Remember to talk about what has happened in the story with somebody at home.

Today we will be to be learning about the five senses. Our bodies do some amazing things.

They allow us to see the wonderful world around us, hear things and taste delicious foods.

We will be looking at which body part relates to each sense and conducting a sound exploration using our ears.

Follow the link to the Oak Academy website and press Start to begin the lesson.

The five senses

This week we are still working on our exciting project at St John the Divine.

This is to put together an online choir performance of the children from different year groups.

Mr Postles has put a new Blog on the Music page about this.  You can access the Music Blog from the same place you access this page every day of use this link below to go straight there:

In order to make this happen, all you need to do is to record the child singing along to one (or all three!) of the songs chosen for this project. There are a few things we need to get right, so please refer to the information on the blog!

To see Mr Postles explain the information in a video, please follow this link:

I hope you all enjoy the work that has been set for you today.

Remember that you can always email me any questions at showing ‘Year 2’ in the title.

Have a good day!
