Thursday 30th April 2020

Good morning,

Today is the last day to complete the Sumdog competition, good luck!!

Answers to the Mind-boggling mysteries are:

  1. In hot water:  The crook made the mistake of filling the bathtub. If he had been in the tub, his body would have displaced some of the water.
  2. Asleep at the wheel: He worked shift work.  It was four in the afternoon, and he drove through rush hour traffic (in the opposite direction).

I hope you got both of these!

Here are your answers to Guided Reading from yesterday:

Guided Reading answers

A couple of you have emailed asking if you have to send your work into me to mark – it is entirely up to you.   If I set you online task, I can automatically see how you went and if you have completed the task.  For tasks in your exercise book, you can either type it up (or scan it) and send me or we can go through it as a class when we are all back at school.

Let’s dive right into today’s learning.

Literacy:

Today we are going to look at procedural text – that’s right I want you to have a go at cooking for your family.  Today you will follow a procedure (Task 1) and tomorrow you are going to have a go at writing your own interesting recipe to try (Task 2).

Take a picture of your final product and share on social media.

Below you will find a selection of Maths related tasks for you to complete today.  Please complete Summer term – Week two, lesson four – Problem solving – remember to take your time and really think about what the question is asking you.

Once you have finished that login to Mathletics and SumDog.

Topic:

Today we are going to look at the changing landscape of London, particularly during the Cholera outbreak in the 1830s.  This is lesson five. This might seem similar to today’s pandemic – however the response was vastly different of that of today. There were some very weird and interesting home remedies to keep this disease at bay back then (just like the suggestion today of injecting disinfectant – which you must never do!).

Has Soho changed that much over the 200 years?

Remember you do not have to print out any of the resources.  You will need to use your USO logins.
