Governing Body

Here at St John the Divine Primary School we have an active governing body.

Our governors are representatives of the parents, school staff and the local community.

The Full Governing Body (FGB) meet once a term. Alongside this the governors work is supported through termly commitee meetings. There are four committees: Standards, Teaching and Learning, Admissions, Finance and Audit and the Buildings committee.

The Standards, Teaching and Learning Committee (ST&L) support the leadership team in ensuring that high standards are maintained in teaching and learning and that our curriculum is relevant to our children, whilst meeting statutory requirements.

The Finance and Audit Commitee (F&A) is responsible for overseeing school expenditure within the school budget. The Buildings Committee is now part of the Finance and Audit Committee, and remains responsible for Health and Safety and ensuring that there is a clear development plan to enable us to keep our Old Victorian building in the best shape possible to provide for your child to enjoy during their time with us.

The Admissions Committee (ADM) is responsible for ensuring that our admissions policy is adhered to.

The day-to-day running of the school is entrusted to the Headteacher and staff.

Peter Truesdale

I have lived in Kennington and worshipped at Saint Joth the Divine for nearly 40 years. My Mum was a primary school teacher! I was a member of Lambeth Council for 20 years, including four years as a leader of the council. The first in my family to go to university, i know how important education is and what I owe to those who taught me.

Doyin Adelakun – Parent Governor

I moved to the Camberwell area during my university days and have settled here ever since with strong ties to the community. When the children were old enough to start Nursery, our first choice of school for them in the area was St John The Divine Primary School. I started my career within the public sector where I worked for many years, I currently work as an Accountant for a team fundraising for Kings College London University and the Kings Health Partners, these includes Guy’s & St Thomas, Kings College hospital and Maudsley hospital.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, jogging, singing, dancing, listening to music. I also love reading and posting inspirational quotes to encourage positive thinking.

Luke Davy - Parent Governor

My children have been attending St John the Divine Primary School for many years, with my eldest starting in 1999 and this has led me to have a strong affiliation with the school, and local community. I have worked in and around education for over twenty years working in partnership with schools, colleges and universities delivering a number of sports, social development, pupil engagement, peer mentoring and educational review projects. I have worked in the private and public sector and have gained a wide number of experiences, which will now be able to benefit St John the Divine in many key areas. I currently work at Roehampton University working closely with students to ensure they achieve their full potential.
